The Wicker Stories at EthnoVIBES in Rozwadów

25–26 July 2026 – EthnoVIBES Festival in Rozwadów

There are some events where all it takes is to sit down at a table, pick up a few willow rods and… suddenly you realise that you are weaving not only an object, but also a story.

That is exactly what happened during the first edition of the EthnoVIBES Festival at Rozwadów Market Square in Stalowa Wola, where we had the great pleasure of running wicker weaving workshops. 🌿

The level of interest exceeded all our expectations. More and more people gathered around the workshop tables – children, adults and entire families. Some came just to have a look, others wanted to try it “for a moment”… and before long, they were completely absorbed in creating their own wickerwork. 😊

And that was when the second part of our workshops began – the story behind the craft.

Because for us, wicker is never just a material.

We talked about the wicker-growing and basket-making region of Podkarpacie, whose capital has been Rudnik nad Sanem for generations. We spoke about the people who, for more than two centuries, learned this craft, passed it on to their children and helped turn an ordinary willow rod into part of the history of an entire region.

And from there, the story leads naturally to our home in Łętownia.

This is where a place that is particularly important to us can be found – the historic wicker goods warehouse, whose origins date back to the time of Count Ferdinand Hompesch and which was later associated with the “Jedność” Workers’ Cooperative.

Today, this place is still very much alive with wicker.

It is now home to our The Wicker Stories workshop. ❤️

Times have changed. Designs, interiors, needs and the way we look at craftsmanship have changed too. But the most important things have remained – human hands, the natural rhythm of work and knowledge passed down from one generation to the next.

At EthnoVIBES, we had the opportunity to carry this story forward.

First through words.

Then through wicker.

And as we watched the participants trying their hand at weaving their own wicker handbags, we thought that this is exactly where the true strength of craftsmanship lies – as long as someone wants to touch it, discover it and learn even a single weave, its story continues.

We would like to thank the Rozwadów Cultural Centre “Sokół” in Stalowa Wola and the organisers of EthnoVIBES for inviting us and for creating a space where music, culture, history and traditional craftsmanship could all come together in one place.

Above all, we would like to thank you – everyone who took part in our workshops. Thank you for your curiosity, your questions, your conversations, your patience with those first weaves and for showing such incredible interest. 🌿

Every piece of wicker woven that day carried away with it a tiny fragment of our region’s history.
