Outdoor Wicker Basket Weaving

We set out with a camera to a place where wicker is more than just a material — it’s a part of identity, heritage, and everyday life. Among open fields and riverside groves, in small workshops and backyard sheds, we explored the world of Lasowiacy craftsmanship — a tradition that still pulses with life.

Rudnik nad Sanem and the nearby villages are home to a weaving heritage that hasn’t been lost — in fact, it’s quietly coming back to life. We met artisans who have spent years handcrafting baskets, furniture, and toys from locally grown willow — with passion, precision, and a deep respect for nature.

Our camera captured not only the making, but also the meaning — stories of grandparents passing on their skills, of holidays marked by special weavings, of how wicker once brought people together. These are stories woven as tightly as the baskets themselves.

This film is rich in imagery, sound, and emotion — a tribute to the soul of handmade work. We want to show that true craftsmanship tells a story — and that wicker carries more than just function. It carries memory, culture, and the touch of human hands.
